Answer at a glance
What is Rejuran microneedling?
Rejuran microneedling is a polynucleotide skin rejuvenation treatment delivered via microneedling — the FDA-compliant US protocol. A marine-DNA-derived polynucleotide solution is applied to the skin during a controlled microneedling session; the channels created by the microneedling device allow the solution to penetrate the upper dermis, where polynucleotides have been shown in published studies to support fibroblast activity, collagen synthesis, and microvascular remodeling.
Rejuran microneedling is a quiet, cumulative treatment — not a dramatic-result session. It works at the level of the tissue substrate, supporting the skin's own healing and microvascular machinery over a series of visits.
How Rejuran microneedling works
Polynucleotides (PN, sometimes called PDRN) are short DNA-derived fragments sourced from purified marine (salmon) DNA. In the published literature, polynucleotides bind the A2A adenosine receptor and have been shown to upregulate fibroblast proliferation, collagen synthesis, and angiogenesis — supporting:
- Fibroblast activity (collagen and elastin producers)
- Angiogenesis — improved microvascular flow in the dermis
- A calmer inflammatory environment in compromised tissue
- Dermal hydration and skin elasticity
At Aesura, we apply topical Rejuran during a controlled microneedling session. The fine, sterile needles create thousands of microchannels in the upper skin; the polynucleotide solution is then driven into the upper dermis through those channels.
Why we deliver it this way
Outside the US, Rejuran is sometimes injected. We deliver it via microneedling — the FDA-compliant US protocol — which is also what most of the published microneedling-polynucleotide literature is built on. The injectable form approved abroad by Korea's MFDS is not FDA-approved in the United States for cosmetic use; the microneedling device itself is FDA-cleared as a Class II device for skin texture. We treat the way the regulatory framework, the safety data, and the clinical literature actually align.
Best for
- Skin laxity and fine lines
- Dullness and uneven tone
- Post-acne texture and pore quality
- Periorbital crepiness
- Dehydrated or perimenopausal skin
Eligibility & who should hold off
Best candidates are patients in their 30s through 60s with concerns around texture, laxity, post-acne change, or perimenopausal skin. Hold off if you have an active rosacea flare, an active skin infection, recent isotretinoin use (within 6 months), are pregnant, are immunosuppressed, have a personal history of keloid scarring, or have a recent sunburn. Patients with a known marine or salmon allergy must disclose it at consultation — true reactions are rare, but it is a real contraindication to discuss.
